AfPP Manchester

Attending the recent AfPP (Association for Perioperative Practice) conference in Manchester was both an enlightening and enriching experience, offering a platform for valuable discussions and insights. Throughout the event, many healthcare professionals shared their experiences of working in environments where collaboration and communication are vital, especially within the high-pressure setting of the operating theatre. However, these conversations also highlighted several challenges faced by delegates, underscoring the need for continuous improvements in professional interactions.

We also managed to interview Rumbidzai Kufa on the various challenges that she believes needs to change.

The Clinical Services Journal (CSJ)

The team brief is an important part of effective team working in theatres. An innovative but simple initiative ensures everyone feels part of the team while simultaneously tackling environmental and infection control issues. Danielle Checketts provides an insight.

Education for theatres

We have created an educational video to make the journey of learning about theatre caps fun. We have tried to cover various topics such as history, reasons for the change to disposables and the many benefits and advantages of changing to our theatre badge hats along with how they will work in operating theatres.  We hope to educate staff whilst keeping them entertained which can enhance the retention of information.

Education and rationale for new initiatives are imperative when trying to gain engagement and acceptance of the changes made so we hope that this video helps.
